Director

Directors must have a varied professional background with an emphasis in Early Childhood Education. The most outstanding quality of a director is their ability to provide leadership.

Special competencies which are essential include:

  • Thorough knowledge of the programs techniques and ability to communicate it to others.
  • Thorough knowledge of implementation techniques of the program curriculum, including the use of developmental objectives, evaluation and procedures.
  • Thorough knowledge of procedures which support the program, community contacts, consultation procedures, relationships with other agencies, termination and follow-up procedures.
  • Ability to plan and conduct effective child-oriented programs.
  • Ability to plan and conduct effective programs to assist parents.
  • Ability to work in the classroom as both support and lead teacher when necessary.
  • Ability to work in a leadership capacity with peers.
  • Thorough knowledge of KDHE regulations for childcare centers.
  • Thorough knowledge of Kiddi Kollege staff manual and personnel policies and procedures.
  • An understanding of hiring, coaching, evaluating and terminating staff.
  • Ability to follow hiring process pertaining to orientation, new hire paperwork, KDHE requirements and successfully completing all documentation.
  • Writing/conducting yearly evaluations, adjusting wages and setting goals with staff members.
  • Maintenance of personnel records, time sheets, benefits and reviewing time sheets for accuracy.
  • Responsible for maintaining a quality staff through thorough recruitment process, understanding of qualifications per ratio requirement.
  • Enrollment and marketing of the center.

Teacher

A teacher should possess several qualities which facilitate the effective teaching and caring of children. The following are some of the qualities/expectations we have:

  • Ability to observe and determine the children’s needs and to plan the classroom based on their needs.

  • Plan and post in the classroom weekly lesson plans based on Kiddi Kollege curriculum.
  • Provide Assistant Teachers with the opportunity to have input into the program. To supervise and provide training to Assistants, Aides and Float staff.
  • To establish and maintain good positive communications with all parents.
  • To observe, record and report significant individual or group behavior to a member of Management.
  • To have through knowledge and understanding of the Kiddi Kollege Discipline Policy and aware of the State of Kansas reporting suspected abuse policy.
  • Able to keep current/up to date daily attendance records.
  • Knows proper protocol for filling out incident reports and turning them in to a member of Management before parent arrival.
  • Immediately reporting any injury/ illness to member of Management.
  • Keep classroom safe and secure, personal items locked in cupboard, any supplies needing to be locked up are, understanding of staff code of conduct.
  • Teacher is directly responsible to the Center Director, Assistant Director and assists in any capacity whenever the need is presented.
  • Teacher is to attend any/all staff meetings, workshops, in-service, or other meetings pertaining to the Early Childhood profession.
  • Displays a sense of humor, common sense and emotional maturity when engaging with children, staff and parents daily.
  • Presents a professional appearance.

  • Assists with meals, naptime, tooth brushing and bathroom routines.
  • Offers every child appropriate physical affection, verbal praise and acceptance. Happy children reflect the Assistants overall contribution to the classroom.
  • Displays a sense of humor, common sense and emotional maturity when dealing with children, staff and parents consistently daily.
  • Keeps their personal items locked up, including cell phone.
  • Attends all staff meetings, workshops, in-service in order to learn and grow in their position.

  1. Thorough knowledge of Kiddi Kollege Personnel Policy, Philosophy, Code of
    Conduct, Discipline Policy, Dress Code and Suspected Child Abuse Reporting
    Procedures.
  2. Meets regulations of State and Local Child Care Agencies.
  3. Ability to relate positively to children’s needs.
  4. Experience and education in quantity food preparation is preferred.
  5. Follows the daily menu prepared in conjunction with or by the director. Implements
    changes in menus. Posts menus and any changes.
  6. Demonstrates the ability to meet schedules. Each meal should be ready to serve on
    time.
  7. Prepare and serve Breakfast, Snacks and Lunch.
  8. Keep accurate records of food inventory and food needs. Submitting a list of foods to
    be ordered to Director weekly.
  9. Assist teachers with food, cooking experiences, class parties, etc.
  10. Maintains an orderly, clean and safe kitchen area always, including the proper
    care of equipment.
  11. Presents a professional appearance.
  12. Ability to work effectively as a member of a team.
  13. Helps in classrooms as needed.
